What is 1, 3 Dimethylamylamine(DMAA)?

For those of you who don’t know what 1, 3-dimethylamylamine (DMAA) is, it is an organic compound that is commonly used as a nasal decongestant and as a treatment for enlarged oral tissues. Also, 1, 3 dimethylamylamine can be known as methylhexanamine or geranium extract.

The 1, 3 dimethylamylamine can be a very strong stimulant similar to ephedrine or caffeine and most recently supplement companies have added this ingredient into their pre workout formulas. However, several supplement companies have changed their pre workout formulas (e.g. 1MR and Jack3d) and have removed this ingredient from their pre workout supplement because of all the negative press and research coming out about this ingredient. Several countries including: Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and many more countries have recently banned all sales of 1, 3 dimethylamylamine. Other countries such as the United States and United Kingdom have put heavy restrictions on the use of 1, 3 dimethylamylamine. It is also banned in many professional sports because it is seen as performance-enhancing substance.
